Strach z druhé vlny Covid-19 na trhu s komoditami převažuje nad snahou o opětovné obživnutí světové ekonomiky. Tlačí také na cenu ropy. Centra poptávky, tedy USA, Čína, Indie a státy Jižní Ameriky, jsou všechna ve velkém rozsahu zasažena pandemií. To odrazuje investory od směřování svých prostředků do „černého zlata“. Druhá vlna pandemie by totiž poptávku po této komoditě opět snížila.

Oproti dubnovým 16 dolarům za barel je sice severomořská ropa Brent již na 39,84 USD za barel, to je však stále o třetinu méně než na konci loňského roku. Podobně je na tom americká WTI, která klesla na 37,56 USD za barel

V rámci přípravy na druhou vlnu pandemie se skladovací centra po světě ve značné míře ropou zásobila. Reálně tedy hrozí nejen její neprodejnost, ale i otázka, jak takové zásoby využít.
